Leadership

The Division of Educational Affairs plans, conducts, and evaluates the state-wide Annual Meeting and Spring Meeting, as well as additional continuing pharmaceutical education programs each year; assists the ICHP Executive Vice President, Vice President of Professional Services and Director of Operations with oversight of the ACPE accreditation processes for all ICHP sponsored programs; assists the Editor of KeePosted upon request; evaluates, develops, and implements new ICHP educational products and services; and addresses relevant issues concerning pharmaceutical education.

The Division of Marketing Affairs is responsible for developing and maintaining programs to support current membership and recruit new members. We also act as a liaison to local affiliates and coordinate communications and selected activities directed toward the general public and health professionals. PEARLS - a subcommittee of Marketing Affairs
The Public Education & Awareness OutReach pubLication Subcommittee (PEARLS) operates under Marketing Affairs.

Responsibilities of the Division of Professional Affairs

• Improve and promote pharmacy practice in Health-Systems and affiliated facilities by developing position statements, standards, guidelines, competency standards, and related materials. Identify and recognize innovative practice.
• Work cooperatively with allied organizations and other agencies to develop and promote these responsibilities. 
• Review bi-annually existing ICHP Position Statements for the purpose of retention, revision, or deletion.
  • Develops new position statements relative to professional practice reflecting the viewpoint of the membership. 
  • Every position statement must be presented to the Board for approval. 
  • Once approved, the statements are presented at the next House of Delegates meeting for final approval.
  • Once approved, the statements are incorporated into the policy and procedure manual.
• Develops professional standards relative to Health-System pharmacy practice upon request.  All standards must be confirmed by the Board, and reviewed every two years by the Division.

Professional Affairs also oversees ICHP's annual Best Practice Award - for more information: past winners and selection criteria and currently available Best Practice On Demand CE.

This is a subcommittee of the Division of Educational Affairs and is responsible for directing, soliciting and providing the technical content of the ICHP newsjournal KeePosted. The Committee is chaired by the KeePosted Editor and works closely with ICHP office staff to produce four issues of the newsjournal annually. This group meets via email prior to publication of the newsjournal. The KeePosted newsjournal is published, both in print and online, in February, May, August, and November each year.

An ICHP membership includes free print and online access to all issues (4 per year).  KeePosted offers its readers the latest news and important issues which affect the profession of pharmacy. KeePosted is also a great way to keep up-to-date on the latest in Pharmacy Law. In addition to providing timely information on the latest news affecting the pharmacy profession, KeePosted offers great technical articles to help its readers stay on top of the new trends and treatments in pharmacy.

This committee is chaired by the Immediate Past-President of ICHP.

This committee is made up of well-informed volunteers who solicit members to run for ICHP’s various elected positions. Volunteers for this Committee should be engaged in ICHP and know many of the active members around the State and in their specific affiliate. This is probably not a job for a new member and anyone interested in running for an ICHP office should not volunteer to serve on this committee. Members meet virtually, as needed, to set the ballot prior to the fall election.

The Ambulatory Care Network meets at noon on the first Thursday of the month. See below for details about joining in!

We are truly excited and energized about the ICHP Ambulatory Care Network! All ICHP pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and student pharmacists with interest in the delivery of non-hospitalized patient care are welcome to join us in a journey to guide ambulatory practice advancement and advocacy efforts in Illinois. Our call to action is to bolster recognition of pharmacy as a critical element of the healthcare team to ensure the health and wellness of those patients we serve, across all healthcare settings.

Network participants share responsibility to assess and identify ambulatory best practices in the state, foster collaborative research with ambulatory care practice sites, and solicit presentations and content for ICHP Spring and Fall meetings.

Ambulatory Care Network Guidelines

Description
The Ambulatory Care Network is a group of ICHP member practitioners who are pharmacists, pharmacy technicians or student pharmacists specializing in coordination and/or delivery of non-hospitalized patient care.

Mission and Vision
The mission of the ICHP Ambulatory Care Network is to enhance the care and improve the health outcomes of patients in Illinois by advancing ambulatory pharmacy practice collaboratively in the non-hospitalized setting. The vision of ICHP’s Ambulatory Care Network is to support state-wide ambulatory pharmacy best practices that ensure optimal medication use for patients in Illinois within patient-centered team based care.

Responsibilities
1. Provide communications and benefits to ICHP’s ambulatory care members.
2. Participate in ICHP divisions and committees.
3. Establish practice, social and community service activities for ICHP’s ambulatory care members.
4. Create statewide networking opportunities for ICHP’s ambulatory care practitioners.

Format/Activities
1. Meets via conference call once monthly or as needed.
2. Possible activities:
    a. Assessment of ambulatory care in the state
    b. Resources for ambulatory care pharmacists- ex: toolkits, how to prepare for board certification
    c. Perform gap analysis of ambulatory care best practices in Illinois
    d. Foster collaborative research with ambulatory care practice sites.
    e. Create ambulatory care programming for fall and spring meetings
    f. Oversee the ICHP Ambulatory Care Network community on ICHPchat.

The Network meets the second Wednesday of every month at 2:00 pm via Zoom.

Description

The Residency Leaders Network (RLN) is a group of ICHP members who are pharmacists and leaders in residency programs (i.e. residency directors and residency coordinators) throughout the state.

Mission and Vision

The mission of the ICHP RLN is to offer networking opportunities to resolve questions, challenges, and issues that residency directors and residency coordinators often face when guiding residents through their program and/or preparing for ASHP accreditation.

The vision of the ICHP RLN is to foster best practices related to residency programs in the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities

1. Set up listserv (or another forum) for residency directors and residency coordinators within Illinois to pose questions and offer solutions for residency training and/or accreditation issues.
2. Encourage participation in ICHP activities such as committee participation and meetings attendance.
3. Work with ICHP meeting planning committee and/or the ICHP Educational Affairs Division to create preceptor development programming and recruit speakers that will meet ASHP accreditation requirements.
4. Coordinate informal gatherings throughout the year for mentoring residency directors, residency coordinators, and/or preceptors
5. Work with ICHP student school chapters in Illinois to provide information on residency training.
6. Increase awareness of ICHP among residency directors and residency coordinators and consequently new residents each year.

The RLN members also provide planning support for the Illinois Pharmacy Resident Conference (ILPRC), which ICHP coordinates annually every May (beginning in 2022).

Description
1. Serves as an ex officio of the ICHP Board of Directors.
2. Coordinates activities of the Residency Leaders Network and its subcommittees.
3. Reports activities of the Residency Leaders Network to the Board of Directors.
4. Prepares an annual report of the activities of the Residency Leaders Network.
5. Brings to the attention of the Board “Votes to recommend” from the Residency Leaders Network executive  board.
6. Accepts assignments from the Board of Directors on a specific matter of consideration.
7. Obtains approval of the Board of Directors prior to representing themselves as acting on behalf of the Council or securing funds from sources outside the Council.
8. Obtains approval of the Board of Directors prior to spending funds of the Council on Residency Leaders Network activities.
9. Prepares an annual budget for the Residency Leaders Network and submits it to the Treasurer and Executive Vice President.
10. Complies with Chapter 10.0 of the ICHP Policy and Procedure Manual “Performance Requirements for Board Members, Officers, and other ICHP Representatives”.
11. Provides assignments for residency director/coordinator volunteers.
12. Conducts an annual roster review of the network and provides names of members to add or delete from the roster for the coming year.
13. Serve on the ILPRC Planning Committee.

Term
Appointed position.  Serves a one year term.  May serve more than one term.

Vice Chair
Description
1. Performs the duties of the Chair in the event of the Chair’s absence.
2. Takes minutes of the network meetings.   
3. Assumes the role of the Chair at the end of his or her term. 
4. Assist with the ILPRC Planning Committee.

Appointed position. Serves one year term. May serve more than one term.

The mission of the PTN is to enhance patient care and improve health outcomes of patients in Illinois by advancing pharmacy technician practice collaboratively with pharmacists. The PTN hopes to advance the practice for pharmacy technicians by highlighting the various roles pharmacy technicians play on the healthcare team in addition to contributing to the advancement of workforce of well-trained pharmacy technicians who seek opportunities to excel and work at the top of their training and education.

Responsibilities

1. Provides communications on activities and benefits to ICHP’s pharmacy technician members.
2. Seeks to increase pharmacy technician involvement and visibility within ICHP, its local affiliates, and ASHP.
3. Recruits pharmacy technicians to participate in the ICHP divisions, committees as well as the Spring and Annual meetings.
4. Establishes practice, social and community service activities for ICHP’s pharmacy technician members.
5. Creates statewide networking opportunities for ICHP’s pharmacy technician members.
6. Establishes a platform for support and mentorship to pharmacy technicians.
7. Identifies opportunities for enhanced professional development to assist pharmacy technicians with career development.

9. Complies with Chapter 11.0 of the ICHP Policy and Procedure Manual “Performance Requirements for Board Members, Officers, and other ICHP Representatives”.
10. Provide immediate assignments and mentors for pharmacy technician volunteers.
11. Conducts an annual roster review of the core network and provides names of members to add or delete from the roster for the coming year.

Term
Technician representative is an elected position who serves a two-year term. May serve two successive terms.
