The University of Illinois Colleges of Medicine and University of Illinois Chicago Retzky College of Pharmacy seek a passionate educator who will play a critical role in teaching foundational knowledge in pharmacology and pharmacy skills education in both Colleges. The successful candidate will play an integral role on the UIC Health Sciences Campus in Rockford, helping medical and pharmacy students achieve their fullest potential by fostering a nurturing, supportive, and safe learning environment through teaching, scholarly activity, and education of learners in the classroom and clinical setting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The position is shared between the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Retzky College of Pharmacy at Rockford, with faculty appointments in both the Department of Health Sciences Education and Pharmacy Practice. The faculty member will teach medical and pharmacy students in the classroom and will serve as a course director for a foundational integrated discipline course within the College of Medicine. They will be part of the Office of Experiential Education within the Department of Pharmacy Practice in the College of Pharmacy, primarily teaching in pharmacy skills labs. They will work with a variety of faculty to inform the curriculum of both Colleges.

Minimum Qualifications:

PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited College/School of Pharmacy.
Evidence of Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist is required by start date
Completion of a PGY1 residency or equivalent experience by the time of hire.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

PGY2 pharmacy residency training.
Experience in developing or leading integrated medical curricula that bridges basic and clinical sciences.
Demonstrated history of effective teaching of graduate, medical, pharmacy, or other health sciences learners, with positive student evaluations.
Experience with course administration and curricular collaboration.
Expertise in modern pedagogical approaches, including active learning, problem-based learning (PBL), and team-based learning (TBL).
Experience with technology-enhanced learning tools, such as online platforms, virtual simulations, or digital assessments.
A track record of scholarly contributions to medical and pharmacy education, including publications, presentations, or research.
Candidate must possess knowledge and skills to qualify for an academic faculty position (level commensurate with experience) in the Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy. Candidates must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a registered pharmacist by start date.

Compensation and Benefits:

The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $120,000 to $165,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
