Meet Stephanie Lammi

by Stephanie Lammi, Communications Manager
January 19, 2011

I want to take a moment to introduce myself as the new Communications Manager of the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists, tell you a little about myself and my passions, and explain how I’ll be involved in the organization.

Except for my time at Western Illinois University, I have always lived in Rockford. I love our city and enjoy living in this part of the state. I especially love our parks, culture, downtown, and history. As a young professional, I’m proud to say that I live, work, and play here. The Rockford Metro Area includes Loves Park (where the ICHP headquarters is located), Machesney Park, Belvidere, Winnebago, Roscoe, Rockton, and Cherry Valley. Combined, we have a population of approximately 339,000, and our community has a lot to offer. We boast about ourselves as a cultural and entertainment hub. There’s always something to do!

I studied Communications and Marketing at Western Illinois University in Macomb from August 2003 to December 2006. During one summer break, I interned at Cumulus Broadcasting in Rockford where I learned how to operate a soundboard, produce radio commercials, set up for remote broadcasts, prepare for and work at promotional events, and lastly, discovered that I wasn’t interested in working in radio.

The year after I graduated from WIU, my fiance and I bought a house together and got married. My wonderful husband, Josh, works as a PC Tech at Rockford Memorial Hospital and has been there almost 5 years. He said that he has no complaints against health-system pharmacists. I thought you’d enjoy that!

Our pride and joy is our two year old red Shiba Inu. Reflecting our true nerdy nature, his name is Yoshi (you know... the green dinosaur in Super Mario Bros)! Contradictory to what we were told about Shiba Inus, he loves cuddling and tries to be a lap dog. During the warmer months, I take him running before work. Since it’s too chilly and icy to run outdoors right now, we are doing agility in our basement (tunnels and jumps)!

In 2007, I started working for The Morrissey Family Businesses in Rockford as a Human Resource Representative. With time, my job responsibilities changed to include my passion for marketing. I became a Marketing Associate and handled the company’s email campaigns, websites, ads and other promotional material, tradeshows, and maintained our social networking accounts.

In November 2010, I attended the ICHP Leadership Retreat. It was an excellent way for me to better understand the mission of the organization and meet ICHP leaders in a fun and relaxed environment! I began training in the office with Barb Yahn the week of Thanksgiving. Barb’s retirement officially began on December 9, and I know that I have big shoes to fill! I’m incredibly excited to join this team and help fulfill the mission and vision of ICHP.

My role as Communications Manager of ICHP is essentially to create and manage marketing and education communications. Some of my duties will include creating and editing publications (such as KeePosted) and promotional pieces, photographing ICHP functions, managing advertising, managing the content on ichpnet.org, pharmacytechtopics.com, and healthsystemCE.org, and developing and maintaining a social media strategy. One of my first big projects is to implement a social media strategy. Facebook®, here we come!

I look forward to meeting all of you!
