Pharmacy Operations Supervisor, Sterile Preparation - Inpatient Pharmacy
Our Inpatient Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Operations Supervisor to lead our Sterile Preparation areas. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of sterile medication preparation in all areas of the Department of Pharmacy. You’ll handle a variety of shifts, including primarily day and evening shifts based on departmental needs. In doing so, you’ll exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all pharmacists and technicians that work primarily in sterile compounding activities
  • Perform duties of a staff pharmacist, and staff as necessary to meet department staffing needs. This role is expected to staff routinely from 10??"50% of the time
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring pharmacists and technician staff
  • Serve as principle resource for clarification of operational policies for sterile compounding
  • Coordinate supply chain processes for purchasing and receiving pharmaceuticals related to sterile compounding
  • In partnership with narcotic techs and other management team ??" ensure security of controlled substances, as it relates to sterile compounding
  • Evaluate alternative medication dosage forms for cost-savings and coordinate interchange as needed
  • Serve as member of the Manager Meeting, Drug Shortages Committee, and Pharmacy Operations Committee
  • Support residency and experiential education programs
  • Maintain a leadership role in transformation of information systems, practices and facilities
  • Assist in the preparation of the pharmacy and technician schedule, as needed
  • Serve as the administrative leader for one or more strategic departmental goals that are included in the pharmacy department strategic plan
  • Initiates and participates in departmental quality initiatives

Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacist in Illinois (or eligibility to be licensed in Illinois)
  • PharmD degree
  • PGY1 Residency with a minimum of 3 years of Health System Pharmacy experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate responsibility and accountability for all aspects of professional practice
  • Ability to independently problem solve, multi-task and work successfully in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be flexible with work schedule
  • Active participant in professional pharmacy or peer organizations
  • PGY2 Residency in Administration preferred
  • Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Board Certification preferred
  • Understanding of interfaces, and can troubleshoot and resolve issues is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to mentor and teach residents and students
